Sociology 209: Criminal Justice

This course will introduce students to criminal substantive and procedural law and the dilemmas of crime control in a democratic society. Students will learn about the institutional components of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections). Topics will include plea bargaining, capital punishment, the insanity defense, the exclusionary rule, and racial disparities.
