Sociology Master’s Program Admissions

Admission Requirements

Applicants typically require an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be considered for admission, although highly experienced applicants with a strong record of professional achievement may be given exceptional consideration.  There is no requirement to take the GRE.

Students will also be asked to submit:

  • An application form
  • Three letters of recommendation, preferably two of which come from former professors
  • A statement of purpose, in which the student outlines the reasons that they want to join the program

Students may also be required to take the TOEFL and submit other materials.  Please consult the Graduate Admissions Office [(718) 997-5200] for more information.

Applications should be submitted at least one month before classes begin.  If you want to submit an application after this deadline, contact the program director, Joseph Cohen (joseph.cohen@qc.cuny.edu).

Applications can be obtained from the Graduate Admissions Office, Jefferson Hall, Room 205, Queens College, Flushing, NY 11367. They can also be downloaded from the Queens College Graduate Admissions website.
